Model United Nations

Fostering the next generation of active global citizens and leaders

What is Model UN?

Dynamic Learning

Model UN provides an interactive platform for students to explore global issues and become empowered learners. By engaging in debates on international affairs and policy, negotiating with supporters and adversaries, resolving conflicts, preparing resolutions, and navigating rules of procedure, students aim to mobilize cooperation to address some of the world's most challenging concerns.

Life & Leadership Skills

Through the transformative experience of Model UN, students develop essential skills that extend beyond the classroom. They enhance their abilities in research, news literacy, critical analysis, effective communication, persuasive debate, diplomatic negotiation, and cultural understanding. Students acquire knowledge about policies and development strategies, enabling them to drive positive change at the local, national, and global levels.

Model UN meets Common Core and Florida Department of Education Standards for Social Studies, History, and English Language Arts.  It integrates the College, Career, and Civic Life (C3) Framework for Social Studies Standards.

Our online resources and workshops can bring Model into the classroom or help you prepare for a conference.

Our Model UN Conferences bring together a community of passionate young leaders.

Annually, more than 2,000 participants from dozens of schools across Florida join us for debate and diplomacy.

Foundations for Leadership

Empowering Students through Model UN

Established in 2013, Foundations for Leadership is committed to expanding the Model UN community. We collaborate with educational institutions and partners to provide valuable resources for classrooms, teacher professional development, and local conferences.

While Model UN has traditionally thrived in highly selective schools and universities—places with abundant resources and strong interest—we believe that all students, regardless of their means or background, should have access to enriching programs. Our mission is to empower students academically, prepare them for future professional roles, and foster global citizenship.

At Foundations for Leadership, we are passionate about projects that cultivate empathy, diplomacy, and a mindset for bringing people together. Annually, we engage more than 2,500 students and teachers through classroom activities, conferences, and workshops, all made possible by our dedicated team of college volunteers and supportive partners.
